Export Market Development Grant
The Export Market Development Grant is a government assistance program encouraging small and medium businesses to develop export markets. The EMDG reimburses up to 50% of eligible export market development expenses in excess of $5,000, up to a total of $150,000 per year.
EMDG recipients include many of Australia’s best-known exporters, but it’s not just for those with established export lines. The grant can help current exporters grow, and give aspiring export-ready businesses assistance developing sustainable overseas markets.
In the 2015-16 grant year, 891 businesses entered the EMDG scheme for the first time, receiving an average grant of $40,921. In all, $131.4 million was paid to 3,166 businesses, principally targeting markets in the USA, UK, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany.
